Besides my baptism into Christ, when I was 11 years old, I experienced the best day of my life this summer, when I married Carli on July 7th. She is a sweet and committed Christian wife and a blessing to share a home with. Together, we enjoy fellowship with the church, and filling our small one bed, one bath apartment with as many friends and family members as we can for Bible studies, food, and fun. I thank the Lord, each day, for the Christian home in which I was raised, and I endeavor to instill that same love for Christ in my own family. My passion is working for the Lord, and I aspire to use whatever gifts of teaching He may have given me to glorify Him, in the church, at home, and at school.
My secondary passions include athletics and learning about history. I am my number one competitor, and if something requires strenuous action and pushing oneself to the limit of his physical ability, I want to try it. After a hard day of play, however, I love to sit on the couch with a good history book, and let my imagination carry me back to that time. I feel blessed to have a job in which I get to study history and athletics on a daily basis, with children and young adults who have such potential and are capable of teaching me so many things. The Christian environment of ETCA is a spiritually renewing force every day. I am thankful to be a part of this school.
As a 2006 graduate from the College of Education at the University of Texas at Tyler, with a BS in History, I am thoroughly enjoying my first year as a school teacher at East Texas Christian Academy. Whether it is in 5th grade Reading, 6th grade Social Studies, or 9th grade World Geography, I love to see students grasp concepts and make connections to other things they have learned. As a teacher, my main goal is to help students “learn how to be good learners.” With the ability to think for themselves, and an expanded view of their own potential, these students will be prepared to make informed and meaningful decisions throughout their lives.
