I was born in Paris, Texas, and grew up in nearby Windom, Texas. I attended school in Windom and graduated with a class of nine classmates. I attended Abilene Christian College where I met my husband and best friend, Ron, in a history class. After dating for about a year and a half, we married on May 29, 1965, in Windom.
We have lived many places since then—Lubbock, San Antonio, Cheyenne, Champaign, IL, Dallas, St. Louis, Windom, and Tyler. We have two sons—Jared and Jeremy—and they have blessed us with three grandchildren—Carter, Jacob and Claire.
We are blessed to be a part Shiloh Road Church of Christ family.
I graduated from Windom High School in 1962, and enrolled in Abilene Christian College (now University) for the summer session. . I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education in 1966. I worked as an administrative secretary for Urban Renewal in Cheyenne, Wyoming, in 1966-1968, in addition to typing transcriptions for a court reporter. In 1975-1977, I taught business subjects--typing, shorthand, and accounting--in a small high school in Windom, Texas. In 1978 when we moved to Dallas I was the secretary in the Counselors’ Office at Parkhill Junior High in the Richardson School District. Following our move to Tyler, I accepted a part-time position with East Texas Christian Academy in 1988 as the PE teacher. The next year I taught full-time a variety of subjects including Bible, speech/drama and mathematics. In the early 90’s I became Elementary Supervisor at ETCA as well as teaching journalism, which involved being the yearbook sponsor. I semi-retired in 1998 to help take care of my first grandchild, but I stayed involved with ETCA working as the accounts/payable clerk. In 2000, I began teaching again part-time in addition to working in the business office. For the 2006-2007 school-year I decided to step down from teaching, but continue to work in the business office part-time.
