I was born and raised in Waurika, Oklahoma. I started working right out of high school for a legal firm where I was known as the “Teeny Bopper”. Two years later I married the young man that has been in my life since eighth grade. Danny and I celebrated our 39th anniversary in April. His professional goal was mechanical engineering and mine was to help him achieve that goal. I worked at General Dynamics in the engineering department, was secretary/bookkeeper for an attorney, and was private secretary for a credit manager at TXI industries while my husband attended UT Arlington.
Once Danny started his first job in Tyler with General Electric, I worked for Texaco and then at the Tri-C, the TJC campus ministry, until our first son was born in 1972. Motherhood took all my time for the next several years. When I was expecting our second son, we moved back to our hometown to operate a family business. I kept the books while staying at home. Then in July, 1979 we moved back to Tyler and we were home! I now have two daughter-in-laws and three grandchildren with another on the way!
When I think back about my life before ETCA, it is truly hard to remember. It all began in 1980 when I taught two year olds. I then moved to part-time secretary to full-time secretary to Administrative Secretary/Bookkeeper over the next ten years. Both of our sons attended ETCA during this time. In 1990 I took a reprieve and worked part-time as secretary/bookkeeper for a local land surveyor and as assistant church secretary. During the1994-95 school year, I volunteered in the ETCA office. Then I realized that my love for the ministry at ETCA was so deep that I came back permanently as the Business Manager.
