East Texas Christian Academy 1797 Shiloh Rd. Tyler, Texas 75703 Office: 903-561-8642 - Fax: 903-561-9620 Dear Parents, Teachers and Friends of ETCA, The last days of school are the busiest of the year. There is so much going on with finals, awards, graduations, and playoffs. In addition, the National Christian School Association accreditation team has just left our campus after an exhaustive look at ETCA. This is the organization whose standards we adhere to in order to meet or surpass the Texas Education Agency requirements. They gave us many commendations as well as some recommendations to help us to continue improving our school. The ETCA Board of Directors added to the year-end excitement by announcing the move of the school campus to our Roy Road property. The Board vote was unanimous in the decision to make the move this summer. Since the purchase of this 20-acre property in 1999, a lot has happened. Not only has the property been paid off but also we were able last year to go forward with the infrastructure that enabled us to start constructing buildings. The gym was completed in April, 2009 and has been utilized weekly. However, $130,000.00 is still needed to pay off the construction cost of the gym. We continue to reach out to our donors for their support. As you know, the gym is a HUGE facility. The original architect of the gym is working with us to utilize the full potential of this building. In addition, some of the buildings from the secondary campus will be moved and given facelifts as needed. This plan is what enables the move of the entire campus in a short period of time. Bulldozers are on site right now working on the soccer field. As soon as that is finished, dirt work will begin for the big move. The Board of Directors is following a strategic plan that has been in place since the Roy Road property was purchased. Through the years, several adjustments and changes have been made as needed. Now we are taking what God has provided and making good stewardship our top priority. Since the purchase of this property, the Tyler city limits has been extended. Grande Boulevard has been completed to Highway 110 and Loop 49 is under construction. Our property has increased in value over the past several years. We are so thankful. God is good! We have benefited from the generosity of the Shiloh Road Church of Christ for 30 years by using their beautiful facilities. However, it is time for the school to move to our own property. We have been blessed by Shiloh Road Church of Christ and we hope ETCA has been a blessing to them. The Board of Directors requests your prayers and patience during this time. We are so thankful for each and every one of you. God has blessed ETCA with wonderful families and friends. For the children, ETCA Board of Directors

Thank you for your interest! Accreditation In 1985, ETCA became one of the first private schools in the east Texas area to be accredited by the Texas Education Agency. Accreditation was maintained through TEA until the state of Texas changed its private school accreditation policy. An umbrella association of the TEA was formed to oversee private school accreditation as the state would no longer be directly part of the process. Since that time, all private school accrediting entities in Texas are required to be a member of the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC) in order to be recognized as accredited by the state. There are approximately twelve private school accrediting agencies that are recognized by TEPSAC. ETCA is a member of the National Christian Schools Association (NCSA), which was one of the first organizations to be formed when TEPSAC was created. It is composed of over 100 Church of Christ affiliated schools and was modeled after existing accreditation agencies. The standards are thorough, rigorous, and demanding. ETCA has been accredited through the NCSA since 1990. |
